DPO Arabia

Staff Awareness Training

Turn Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) policy into day-to-day behaviour across the organisation.

DPO Arabia develops and delivers role-relevant PDPL awareness that helps personnel understand their Personal Data responsibilities, recognise operational privacy triggers and follow the organisation’s approved escalation and handling procedures.

We build practical behaviour around the organisation’s actual processing, policies and escalation routes rather than relying on a generic annual training session.

REGULATORY BASIS

Paragraph Ninth of Council of Ministers Resolution No. (98) dated 7/2/1443 AH, DPO Rules Article 8 and PDPL Implementing Regulation Article 32.

OPERATING FOCUS

Audience segmentation, role-based scenarios, operational triggers, escalation routes, completion evidence and refresh cycles.

OUTCOME

Personnel who understand how PDPL obligations affect their day-to-day work and when to involve the DPO Office.

TYPICAL TRIGGERS

Bring this DPO service into the workflow when these events occur.

Each trigger can create a new privacy decision, control requirement or evidence obligation that should be assessed and retained.

01

New employee onboarding

02

Annual awareness cycle

03

New or updated PDPL policy

04

New processing activity or system

05

Repeated privacy incidents or control failures

05

Role-specific processing risk

WHY IT MATTERS

Turn policy requirements into behaviour that supports the operating controls.

We tailor awareness to the roles, processing activities and privacy events personnel actually encounter, then connect the training to approved policies, procedures and escalation routes. This helps the organisation reinforce the behaviours its PDPL controls depend on and retain evidence of who received the required training.

Effective awareness should change operational behaviour, not simply record that a training session was completed.

WHAT DPO ARABIA DELIVERS

Build awareness around the roles, risks and decisions people encounter in practice.

The programme can combine a common PDPL baseline with role-specific scenarios so personnel understand both the organisation-wide rules and the privacy triggers most relevant to their own work.

01

Training needs & audience assessment

Identify personnel groups, processing responsibilities, risk exposure, existing knowledge and priority training requirements.

02

Core PDPL awareness programme

Build a practical baseline covering Personal Data, Data Subject rights, approved handling, accountability, confidentiality and escalation responsibilities.

03

Role-based training modules

Tailor content for functions such as HR, Marketing, Product, IT, Security, Procurement, Customer Experience and other processing teams.

04

Operational scenario exercises

Use realistic cases involving DSRs, breaches, new processing, DPIAs, LIAs, vendors, disclosures and transfers so personnel practise recognising triggers.

05

Completion & acknowledgement controls

Maintain attendance, completion, acknowledgement or assessment evidence according to the agreed delivery model.

06

Refresh & change programme

Define onboarding training, periodic refresh, targeted retraining and updates when policies, processing or regulatory expectations change.

HOW WE WORK

Move from training need to reinforced operational behaviour.

The four-stage workflow keeps awareness connected to actual Personal Data responsibilities, approved procedures and the privacy events employees need to recognise in day-to-day work.

01

Assess the audience

Map personnel groups, processing responsibilities, existing controls and the behaviours the training needs to influence.

02

Build the programme

Develop core and role-specific content using the organisation’s actual policies, procedures, escalation routes and processing scenarios.

03

Deliver & reinforce

Run the agreed training, use practical examples and reinforce priority behaviours for teams with higher Personal Data exposure.

04

Evidence & refresh

Retain completion evidence, identify knowledge gaps or follow-up actions and define when training needs to be refreshed.

EVIDENCE YOU RETAIN

Retain evidence of both the programme and its delivery.

We retain an evidence set showing why the programme was designed as it was, what personnel were expected to learn, who completed the required training and how the programme is maintained over time.

KSA PDPL REGULATORY CONTEXT

Connect the awareness programme to the DPO’s regulatory responsibilities.

We use the DPO’s awareness, training and monitoring responsibilities within the KSA PDPL framework to define the programme scope, priority audiences and evidence the organisation needs to retain.

Rules for Appointing Personal Data Protection Officer (DPO) Article 8 – DPO Roles & Tasks

Assigns the DPO operational and governance responsibilities that include participation in awareness activities, training and knowledge transfer concerning Personal Data protection and PDPL compliance.

PDPL Implementing Regulation Article 32 – Personal Data Protection Officer (DPO)

Establishes the DPO’s wider responsibility for monitoring implementation of the Law and Regulations and overseeing the Controller’s Personal Data protection procedures.

Council of Ministers Resolution No. (98), Paragraph Ninth

Requires Controllers to take necessary measures, including work sessions or similar activities, to familiarise employees and personnel with the terms and principles of the KSA PDPL.
