DPO Arabia

KSA PDPL Compliance Assessment

Find out where your PDPL framework is strong, where it is exposed, and what should happen next.

DPO Arabia reviews your actual processing, controls and retained evidence against the applicable Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) requirements, then converts the findings into a prioritised remediation path.
You finish with a defensible view of what is working, what is missing, who should own the remediation and what management should address first.

WHAT THE ASSESSMENT TESTS

Assess the operating framework, not only the documents.

We test the same four PDPL operating areas used across the DPO Arabia service framework so findings can move directly into the relevant remediation, specialist service or ongoing operating model.

PDPL Operating Framework ASSESSMENT LENS

Governance & Accountability

Controller registration, Data Protection Officer (DPO) arrangements, policies, Record of Processing Activities (RoPA), retention and accountability records.

PDPL Operations

DSRs, breaches, DPIAs, LIAs, Privacy Notices, consent and recurring privacy workflows.

Third Parties, Contracts & Transfers

Processor due diligence, contracts, disclosures, cross-border access and transfer safeguards.

Assurance & Evidence

Registers, remediation, evidence, management reporting and readiness to demonstrate compliance.

FROM SCOPE TO FINDINGS

Once the scope is understood, the assessment moves from evidence collection to validation, classification and prioritisation.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

Move from evidence collection to a prioritised action plan.

We move from evidence collection to validated findings, ownership and prioritised actions rather than producing a generic checklist score.
01
Scope the processing environment
Identify business areas, systems, processors, third parties, transfers, Data Subjects and higher-risk activities.
02
Review evidence
Test policies, records, contracts, assessments, workflows, system controls and retained evidence.
03
Validate with owners
Confirm how the process actually works with the accountable business and technical teams.
04
Classify gaps
Separate missing evidence, control weaknesses, implementation gaps and matters requiring specialist review.
05
Prioritise remediation
Set owners, dependencies and sequencing so the organisation can address the most material gaps first.

ASSESSMENT OUTPUT

Finish with a remediation path management can operate.

We give management a practical remediation path showing what already works, what needs attention, who owns the next action and what evidence should be retained as remediation progresses.

REMEDIATION PATH COMPLETED

The engagement closes with findings translated into a practical management path rather than a report that sits separately from implementation.

Assessment findings

What is working, where the control or evidence is incomplete, and why the observation matters.

Prioritised remediation

Actions sequenced by materiality, dependency and implementation need.

Evidence gaps

Records, approvals, assessments or controls that should be created, corrected or retained.

Ownership & next actions

Clear accountable functions and a practical closure sequence.

KSA PDPL REGULATORY CONTEXT

Connect the assessment to demonstrable compliance and regulatory review.

We use the assessment to test actual processing, controls and retained evidence against applicable requirements, with particular attention to the evidence the organisation should be able to retrieve for internal assurance or regulatory review.

PDPL Implementing Regulation Article 33 – Records of Personal Data Processing Activities (RoPA)

Requires processing records to remain accurate and up to date and specifies the information that must be maintained to demonstrate the organisation’s processing environment.

Saudi PDPL Article 31 – Record of Processing Activities (RoPA)

Requires Controllers to maintain processing records containing prescribed information and make them available to the Competent Authority when requested.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

The assessment gives you the starting point. The next step depends on what the findings require.

01

IF THE FINDINGS REQUIRE

Remediate specific findings

Defined controls or evidence need to be created or corrected.

PDPL DPO Services

02

IF THE FINDINGS REQUIRE

Operate recurring workflows

The issue is maintaining recurring compliance operations.

Managed PDPL Compliance

03

IF THE FINDINGS REQUIRE

Establish the DPO function

The organisation also needs the DPO role itself.

Outsourced DPO

04

IF THE FINDINGS REQUIRE

Build the foundations first

The organisation is newly established or pre-operational and needs the governance and operating foundation built from the start.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Resolve the assessment scope before evidence collection starts.

These answers clarify the main scoping decisions. We will shape the actual assessment around your processing profile, governance model, evidence availability and priority risks.
Is this the same as an audit?

It can support audit readiness, but a compliance assessment is primarily designed to understand the current state and prioritise remediation.

Can the assessment cover selected business areas only?

Yes. Scope can be enterprise-wide or focused on specific departments, products, systems or higher-risk processing.

How long does a PDPL compliance assessment take?

Timing depends on the scope, number of business areas, processing complexity, evidence availability and stakeholder access. The assessment scope and working plan should be agreed before evidence collection begins.

Do you need every document before starting?
No. Missing or incomplete evidence is itself useful assessment information. The review should distinguish between unavailable evidence and controls that do not exist.

NEXT STEP

Get a clear starting point for your PDPL programme.

Give us the scope you need assessed. We will establish what is working, where the control or evidence is weak, and which remediation actions should be prioritised.
